OLD-WORLD GARMENTS TRANSFORMED THROUGH TAIWANESE CRAFT, HISTORIC TECHNIQUES & THE POETRY OF TIME

Professor.E is a Taiwanese label  founded in 2017, exploring clothing through the philosophy that “time is the texture of things.” Each piece begins with old-world garment traditions — military silhouettes, workwear archetypes, utilitarian pieces shaped by necessity — and reinterprets them for a modern world. The brand embraces techniques that preserve the feeling of history: heavy cottons and hemp, hand-guided stitching, patchwork construction, raw-edge finishing, and subtle forms of deconstruction that reveal rather than conceal the making process.

Their premium line, Forgotten Materials, extends this philosophy by working almost exclusively with re-purposed vintage fabrics — textiles that cannot be reproduced and often exist only in fragments. Linings are frequently cut from vintage kimono weaves, adding layers of cultural memory and tactile resonance. Because the fabrics themselves are scarce, each piece is produced in extremely limited quantities, commonly marked with its individual item number and the total number made.

Professor.E creates garments that feel quietly timeless: pieces shaped by heritage, material memory, and the slow, deliberate passage of time — clothing that carries the past forward, softened and reimagined for today.
