FROM METALWORK TO SHOEMAKING

Botta-S is the signature label of Stefano Botta, who lives and works in his artisan workshop in Treviso, in north-eastern Italy. He came to fashion from metalwork, and taught himself shoemaking and garment construction.

That background shows in the way his pieces are built: with an eye for structure and joins, an honest use of materials, and every step carried out by hand.

AVANT-GARDE SHOES, HANDMADE IN ITALY

Footwear is at the heart of Botta-S. Each pair is made entirely by hand in Italy, using constructions more often found in traditional shoemaking than in avant-garde fashion:

• Blake-stitched insoles
• Ideal-stitched uppers and intersoles
• hand-nailed outsoles
• layered uppers, such as calf suede over woven hemp canvas

The result is footwear with a raw, layered look and the solidity of classic craft.

LEATHER WITH A SURFACE OF ITS OWN

Botta-S brings the same care to leatherwear. Vegetable-tanned horse leather is waxed and cracked until it takes on a paper-like surface, then cut into garments such as trousers.

Every piece is the result of research, respect for materials and a commitment to an aesthetic that is entirely the designer's own.
