Atadep Itterom – Handmade Tuscan Boots & Horse Leather

A SHOEMAKER IN A FORMER CHURCH

Atadep Itterom is an independent shoemaking atelier in Tuscany. Its workshop is housed in a former church in Collodi Castello, near Pescia, a space that serves as both studio and sanctuary.

The label is run by an Italian maker who prefers to let the work speak. There is no large team and no production line: every pair is cut, stitched and finished by hand, one pair at a time.

MADE BY ONE PAIR OF HANDS

Almost no machines are used. The maker hand-stitches each pair, then hand-dyes, barrel-ages and washes it, so that no two pairs come out quite the same.

Natural creases, scars and markings in the leather are kept rather than hidden. The boots are meant to gain character with wear, carrying traces of both the material and the hand.

LEATHERS AND CONSTRUCTION

Leathers come from Tuscan tanneries and are chosen for character as much as strength. Among the materials and techniques:

• culatta horse leather, cut from the hindquarter, with a glossy cordovan centre
• kangaroo leather and hand-washed nubuck
• buffalo leather soles and vegetable-tanned calf linings
• aged hardware and Blake-stitched construction

Alongside footwear, the atelier also makes leather jackets and bags to order.

A SHOEMAKER FOR OTHER LABELS

Atadep Itterom's skill has made it a natural partner for other labels. Together with the Italian knitwear label MD75, it developed MDBOOTS, including ring boots, lace-up boots, and kangaroo or horse leather boots with a wool side stripe.

Those collaborations follow the same approach as the atelier's own boots: slow, hand-led and finished until the leather feels quietly alive.

ATADEP ITTEROM AT ORIMONO

Orimono carries Atadep Itterom's handmade boots:

• diagonal zip horse leather boots, made entirely by hand in Tuscany
• boots that pair with Guidi, Culture of Brave, MD75 and D.Hygen
