Neandertal is a conceptual fragrance project founded in 2017 by artist Kentaro Yamada and introduced during London’s Frieze Art Week. The brand uses scent as a medium to explore humanity’s past, present, and speculative future — blending artistic inquiry with olfactory experimentation. Core perfumes such as Light, Dark, Us, Them, and newer creations like is™ and was™ are handmade in the UK using complex, evolving compositions.

Sculptural glass and ceramic vessels echo the brand’s artistic roots, while its candles translate the same conceptual depth into atmospheric form. Neandertal offers fragrances that are both intellectually provoking and emotionally immersive.
